I guess the gig is up and I'm going to have to come clean on this one... here I was heading off doing a "runner" trying to get away from the RCMP on this one and now Olive is speaking with CSIS... some of you may now know why I sped away to Florida yesterday without even putting winter tires on the red turbo... clearly, like most big criminals I wasn't thinking as I thought I would be safe soaking it up on some cheap golf course down south but it now appears that when Olive's on the trail no one is safe from the law... before this news busts wide open on CBC I want to tell my side of the story and come clean...
Back when I was trying to hack into the Opposition office computers "I wasn't looking for footage of Olive taking people down to Victoria Park" as I don't want to be perceived as some type of PNP pervert.... my hacking all started out innocently enough... "all I was trying to do was find out how Jim Bagnall was getting all the best tee times at Brudenell" and it's as simple as that... for the last number of years every time I went to play Brudenell Jimmy Bagnall and Peter McQuaid would always have the best tee times ahead of me... so when the Liberals got in I was sure it would all stop and I'd get ahead of them... but I just went through another summer and they've foiled me again so I just couldn't help myself and “it was me” trying to hack into those opposition computers as there must be some secert there on how Jimmy was doing it... "Seriously" Olive you can call off CSIS now as I promise I won't do it again if you let me finish out my winter golf season and I promise I’ll release my golf scores to you when I get home... I’ll admit that it’s “an International embarrassment” and I’ll pay the price when I get home...
Hackers foiled in P.E.I. Opposition attack
CBC News
Someone has been trying to hack into the computer of P.E.I.'s Opposition leader, but so far the attempts have failed.
There have been four attempts in the last two years, at least two of them originating from outside of Canada.
"Well at first it's a surprise," said Opposition leader Olive Crane.
"I guess too it's also the reality, because we all know there are people that want to get onto government systems for different reasons."
Crane does not believe she was targeted personally, but that the attempt to get into her computer was part of a more general attack on the provincial government network.
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service says cyber-related attacks are the fastest growing forms of espionage in the country. In its most recent annual report, the spy agency says attacks on government computer networks are of particular concern.
RCMP Const. Chris Manuel, who works in the P.E.I. tech-crime unit, said government computers contain information that is especially attractive to hackers.
"A lot of it is private data and confidential stuff," said Manuel.
"That's the type of information that if you can get a hold of it you can do whatever you want with it."
The Mounties were not involved in Crane's case.
Nobody from the government IT section was prepared to speak with CBC for this story. A spokesperson said to do so could compromise security.
